If you suspect or believe that a family member or friend has a partner who is violent, emotionally abusive, and/or controlling, CompEAP is here to offer support and guidance. Partner violence happens in all types of relationships regardless of age, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, economics, ability, etc. The effects of physical violence may be visible while other types of abuse and control are more subtle.
CompEAP’s Licensed Counselors can assist you in these ways:
- Provide a safe space for you to share your observations and concerns
- Offer emotional support
- Identify supports (ex., shelters, advocates, counseling, support group)
- Brainstorm strategies to help you assist your loved one
- Share information about the cycle of power and control and why people often stay with their partners
- The psychological and physical health impacts of partner violence on adults and children
