If you are seeking support for mental health or emotional concerns, you will be connected to a counselor. Our counselors are licensed, highly skilled professionals with 10-25 years of experience in the counseling field. Beginning with your initial contact, the same counselor works with you to resolve any issues. This process includes an assessment, short-term treatment and/or referral for additional services. The counselor always follows up to ensure your satisfaction. If you are seeking resources for family, work or home, you will be connected to a Work-Life Consultant. CompEAP’s Work-Life Consultants have both lived and career experience prior to joining. For example, our Childcare and Eldercare Specialists have worked in a variety of related settings giving them broad exposure to different care resources, environments and approaches. Often their support is a mix of educating clients about options and providing resources based on the specific needs of a family and their situation.
No information regarding your use of CompEAP services can be released to your employer or anyone else without your consent. This includes all personal identifying information and information about CompEAP services you have accessed via phone, text or online. The only exceptions are those required by law, such as if you are a danger to yourself or others. See our privacy policy here.
Your phone call will be answered by a live person 24/7. We will gather information, evaluate your needs and put a plan of action in motion. This initial contact usually takes 15-20 minutes, but will be adjusted according to the caller’s needs. All you have to do is make the first call to 800-344-1011.
If you are calling about an emotional or family issue, our counselor will conduct an assessment and arrange phone, in-person or video counseling. This will give you an opportunity to talk about your concerns in depth. You will then discuss which referral options may best fit your needs. If in-person further counseling is agreed upon, we will connect you withlocate an experienced, and licensed counselor who has availability to meet with you. and arrange a meeting to take place in a private office convenient to you.
If you are concerned about a colleague or a family member's members mental or physical wellbeing or believe they could use support with an issue in their life, then referring them to the Employee Assistance Program is an excellent way to help them find expert support. Making a referral is not always easy. What do you do when an individual does not acknowledge they have an issue, or does not welcome offers of help? We suggest that you call us to discuss the situation. We can help you assess your options, develop a strategy and even prepare what to say. Not everyone will accept help. We know that a referral, when done well, will increase the likelihood that your colleague or family member will turn to us for support.
