CompEAP helps guide adults through the transition to parenting. We can help by providing coaching, counseling, resources and referrals. The following are examples of ways we can assist employees:
Coaching: Communicating with a manager about: returning to work, flexible work arrangements, managing effects of parenthood on work performance, time management/managing multiple priorities with new responsibilities, balancing work travel with a family and decision making about childcare.
Counseling: Separation issues involved in leaving a child to return to work; coping with the stress of competing work and home life demands; managing feelings of anxiety and guilt; assessment for postpartum depression; referrals to treatment if necessary; handling sleep deprivation; single parenting issues.
Resources and Referrals: Parenting books and websites; information on infant and child development; information on FMLA; information about workplace benefits for new parents; childcare referrals; referrals to pediatricians and other specialists; referrals to lactation consultants; Interview questions for nannies, babysitters, and child care centers; referrals and information on how to evaluate daycare options.
